A Visit from the US Ambassador

The children living at our orphanage partner, Hogar de Fe, received a special visit from the United States Ambassador, Phyllis Powers, in December.  This was Ambassador Powers’ first visit to the home, but it was the second year in a row in which the US Embassy brought Christmas presents to the children through the US Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.

Upon arriving to Hogar de Fe, Ambassador Powers toured the home with the children, Orphanage Director, Pastor Ramiro Blandon, and ORPHANetwork Director Nicaragua, Eddy Morales.  Ambassador Powers’ mothering nature towards the children, especially the girls, led her to talk with them about the importance of appreciating and seizing the opportunities for new lives and education available to them through Hogar de Fe.
