An Everyday Hero – Meet 8-year-old Cate!

bc8dee39-b511-4ebb-b412-5ab5ebf6244aEight-year-old Cate Hart was on a mission to find spare change at school. She would bring home the money and wash it clean before placing it in a plastic bag. When her dad gave her $10, instead of spending it on herself, she added it to the bag. What was this sweet and determined little girl up to? She was finding, cleaning, and saving the money for our kids in Nica! Cate was inspired to do this because of a conversation she had with her dad about the children ORPHANetwork serves.

“What I can do, you cannot. What you can do, I cannot. But together we can do something beautiful for God.” – Mother Teresa

Cate’s parents had also invested into our children, and the whole family was planning to have lunch with Executive Director, Dick Anderson, after their children’s soccer game one weekend. Cate had her pristine bag of money ready to donate, but little did she know, a bystander at the soccer game would hear her parents talking about ORPHANetwork, and hand her dad $100 in cash to add to her collection!

What an amazing God we serve! Only He could have orchestrated such a beautiful story. He touches our hearts, whether we are eight-years-old or eighty-eight, to do what’s in our reach to serve His children in Nicaragua.

We like to think of Cate, and so many of you, as an Everyday Hero for our kids. Do you have a story you’d like to share with us about how you or someone you know is doing something great for our kids? We’d love to hear your story and use it to inspire others!
