Despite not having much to speak of materially Luis and his wife Migdalia are making a way for their family thanks to the Local Church Initiative (LCI) in their community.
Their five year old daughter began attending the LCI about 4 years ago, which led to her mother, Migdalia, visiting the church and then getting a reliable job cooking at the LCI. After countless invitations from his wife, Luis finally began visiting the church, accepted the Lord and then he and Migdalia made the decision to finally get married. Their pastor has been a great inspiration and guiding force in their lives over the past four years.
While Luis is unable to find full-time work, he does construction jobs at the LCI when there is work available and he is always helping their pastor with anything else he needs. While Migdalia is working at the LCI, her husband is helping out at home with their daughters. Migdalia proudly shares this about Luis, “My husband is a great example of what a good husband and father should be like” adding, “God is blessing us in big ways because of the LCI.”
You can impact a family just like Luis’ by nourishing a child through an LCI. Just $17 nourishes 1 child for 1 month. Click here to nourish a child and break the cycle of poverty.
Yuneysi has been attending the new Local Church Initiative (LCI) in La Dalia, Matagalpa for five months. This is what her mother, Yenling, shared about their experience so far :
As her mom I feel blessed because there are people who care about the children of the community. As her parents we did not have the money to provide a very nutritious meal to our daughter, just the basics (rice and beans). The medical team is often visiting the children so we are very lucky to have free medical care for our kids too. Read More
Israel, Genesis and Tamara are three children whose already tough lives were compounded with an eye condition called Strabismus. The condition does not go away on it’s own, but it is repairable with surgery.
Two months ago, these children and their families had never dreamed they would be blessed with financial help for the surgery, transportation to the hospital, medicines and follow up care. Today they are so grateful for the help they are receiving and for the love that has been shared with them from this family in the U.S.
Al’s family has been blown away by the support that has come in (over $7,000 to date) and would like to continue to help children in Nicaragua who need surgeries through the “Al Kotchi Memorial Fund.” If you would like to make a gift in Al’s honor, please click here and simply include “Al Kotchi Memorial Fund” in the order notes of the donation page.
You can see the photos below of Israel’s journey and we will update with photos from Genesis and Tamara as they become available.
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”
– Matthew 18: 3-5 NIV
