Luke visited Nicaragua to understand the needs and the work local partners were doing to improve the lives of children. During his visit he was able to experience the feeding programs providing nourishing meals and orphanages that provided loving homes to rescued children. Yet he was not fully certain where or how he wanted to be involved.
On his last day in Nicaragua, Luke visited an orphanage home that was on the brink of closing its doors due to financial distress. A home where he decided he wanted to be involved — beyond so much more than just giving. Serving these children became a culture to Luke, his family and his friends. Today Luke and his wife, Stephanie, through their organization, Hillier Ignite, continue to sponsor the complete support of the home and make regular trips to interact with and engage in the lives of the children in the orphanage home.
“Seeing these children grow and thrive is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.”
